The Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs serves as a neuromuscular expert, representing Sarepta at scientific congresses, expert committees, advisory boards and other critical external meetings with key stakeholders. The Medical Director is responsible for building and managing long-term relationships and strategic partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), research centers, clinical investigators, and professional societies and organizations. This role interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, utilizing clinical expertise and experience to enhance the scientific and clinical understanding of Sarepta marketed and pipeline therapies, while ensuring scientifically sound and fair balanced communication.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrate medical leadership and expertise by engaging in peer to peer interactions within the neuromuscular community
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including KOLs, researchers, and professional organizations
  • Provide clinical expertise in support of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) projects and initiatives
  • Within legal, compliance and regulatory guidelines, deliver clinical presentations and communicate scientific data at key medical and scientific congresses, critical external meetings, and internal cross-functional forums
  • Contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring a firm understanding of the scientific evidence related to the safety and efficacy of Sarepta commercial and investigational products
  • Remain current on relevant clinical data, the competitive landscape, new therapies, clinical trends and newly issued regulatory laws and FDA guidance to promptly identify possible impact, competition or improvements to product programs
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Legal, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Pharmacovigilance, Marketing and other cross-functional partners to compliantly contribute to the development of scientific resources for external education
  • Foster research relationships with key research centers in the U.S. and internationally as appropriate

Desired Education and Skills: 

  • MD with 10+ years of relevant (clinical practice, academic and/or industry) experience in neuromuscular disorders required
  • Experience interacting as a peer with top tier academic researchers, clinicians, and scientists
  • Strong track record of maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate with strong influence and presence
  • Sound judgement in handling complex, confidential and regulated information
  • Recognized by former peers/colleagues/managers for attributes congruent with Sarepta Cultural Values: Patients First, Action, Unconventional Thinking, Talent, and Integrity
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time domestically and internationally

This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States. Candidates should be aware that Sarepta currently maintains a policy requiring all US-based employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to work on site.
