The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is pleased to launch a national search for a new Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven, passionate advance heart failure specialist to assist in solidifying the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin (F&MCW) health network as a premier advanced heart failure program in the country. The Comprehensive Heart Failure and Transplant Program located in Milwaukee offers outstanding outcomes and innovative transplant and MCS therapies.


Our rapidly growing Advanced Heart Failure program is the only academic program in southeast Wisconsin and will perform over 30 cardiac transplants this year and will implant more than 100 short term and long term mechanical circulatory assist devices. In addition, there is a research program with active projects in heart failure including mechanical circulatory assist devices, total artificial heart, cardiac transplantation, and health economics that span both the medical and surgical aspects of advanced heart failure care. The program is staffed with world class cardiac surgeons, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologists, nurse practitioners and it is supported by an exceptional multidisciplinary clinical and administrative team. Our heart transplant program is CMS certified and our adult VAD destination therapy program has received the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission


Position Requirements/Details

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience and proven leadership experience in Advanced Heart Failure including Heart Transplant
  • Clinical experience with all aspects of AHF care including transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, right cardiac catheterization, endomyocardial biopsy, cardioMEMS implantation
  • Academic credentials commensurate to the rank of Associate Professor or above
  • The successful candidate must be UNOS Cardiac Transplant Qualified
  • Eligible for unrestricted Medical License in the State of WI
  • Board Certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
  • Board Certification in Adult Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine


Our academic practice has over 60 cardiologists and has state of the art equipment and new facilities.  There will be an excellent compensation and benefits package available through MCW.
