Lead Veterinary TechnicianFull-time
Dual Location: Germantown and Frederick, MD
Thrive Pet Healthcare is looking for a Lead Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
As a Lead Technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. You'll provide high-quality technical care while guiding and supporting your technician team. You'll help drive shift efficiency, delegate responsibilities, mentor team members and maintain a smooth workflow throughout each patients veterinary visit or procedure.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a veterinary technician or assistant required
- Must have strong leadership experience
- LVT, CVT, RVT and LVMT strongly encouraged to apply!
- Must have surgical, anesthesia and dental experience.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Leading with Your Head
Understanding business, solving problems, and making decisions through inclusive contributions of others
• In coordination with Practice Manager for optimal staffing levels to meet maximum productivity
and service level expectations, including utilizing tools, programs, and processes.
• In coordination with Practice Manager to oversee locations inventory control system to ensure
adequate stocks of supplies are available, conducts inventory audits and manages inventory to
target budget.
• Maintain a facility that is visually appealing to clients and team members by organizing and/or
contracting maintenance with Practice Manager approval, ordering supplies based on budget
and/or Practice Manager approval, and ensuring the hospital meets Thrive and OSHA safety
standards and safety metrics. Reporting any issues or concerns promptly to Practice Manager.
• Engage in active learning by completing all required training courses.
• In coordination with Practice Manager oversees Thrive Controlled Substance protocol is followed.
• Oversees daily Treatment workflow to guide the team to positive and productive workflow.

• Maintain healthy working relationships, through open communication, conflict competence and
emotional intelligence.
• Create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment and culture by welcoming and

members resulting in positive engagement scores and low turnover rates.
• In coordination with clinic’s leadership (Practice Manager, Medical Director, Leads, etc.) help sustain an environment that supports team members in doing their jobs well, ensuring each team member receives the prescribed training and feedback, and meets the required qualifications for their position through coaching peak levels of productivity, efficiency, and teamwork.
• Engage in the team's wellbeing, focus on personal connections and check-ins to best understand, and implement the appropriate level of support resulting in positive job satisfaction scores. • Address all team member concerns and issues, following up and communicating with Practice Manager.
• Address emergent issues, including client escalations and urgent requests to ensure positive client satisfaction scores, following up and communicating with Practice Manager.
• Act as the Thrive Ambassador to the clinic team by educating, modeling, and supporting company initiatives to ensure engagement and compliance with all programs.

• In coordination with Practice Manager support ongoing learning and development for all team members by providing consistent direct feedback, coaching, mentoring, continuous development check-ins and leading talent planning activities, and education on Thrives guidelines and practices.
• Move dynamically and lead from the floor to assess and ensure an optimal daily operational cadence while creating an exceptional team member experience and guest satisfaction through excellent communication and leadership.
• Model, train, and sustain an environment of proactive customer engagement, seeking to understand customer needs and educate them on the best choice for their pets so they leave confident, satisfied and wanting to return as demonstrated by positive consumer metrics. Reporting any issues or concerns promptly to Practice Manager.
• Proficient clinical skills, medical knowledge, and communication skills.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $28 - $29/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
