- Chief of Division of Acute Care Surgery
Description
Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced surgeon to lead our Division of Acute Care Surgery. The division encompasses three adult Level I and II trauma centers, one pediatric Level II trauma center, and two Level IV trauma centers.
- Each of our Level I and II center are dedicated to providing exceptional trauma and acute care surgery, as well as surgical critical care.
- The division is comprised of 24 trauma surgeons and 25 APPs.
- The Chief will be responsible for overseeing the quality and performance of these programs, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety as well as advancing scholarship and educational activities.
- The chief will practice clinically at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Division of Acute Care Surgery, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of trauma and acute care surgery and surgical critical care programs across all seven trauma centers.
Clinical Oversight: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based clinical care in trauma and acute care surgery.
Program Development: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the division's services, including new protocols, procedures, and technologies.
Education and Training: Mentor and train surgical staff, promoting continuous professional development and education.
Research: Encourage and support research activities within the division, aiming to advance the field of acute care surgery.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments and divisions to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.
Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with regulatory standards and best practices in trauma and acute care surgery.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Board certification in General Surgery and fellowship training in Surgical Criticak Care and/or Acute Care Surgery.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in trauma and acute care surgery.
Minimum of six years of experience as a Trauma Medical Director.
Proven leadership experience in a clinical setting.
Strong commitment to patient care, quality improvement, and clinical excellence.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
