Associate Trauma Medical Director to TMD / Academic Acute Care Surgeon – Clinical Track
The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Utah seeks a full-time academic surgeon to assume the Associate Trauma Medical Director role with eventual promotion to the TMD role should the candidate be successful. The candidate must specialize in acute care surgery (emergency general surgery, trauma, surgical critical care), ideally having completed a two-year Acute Care Surgery fellowship and worked at a busy Level 1 Academic Trauma Center for at least three years. The duration in the Associate TMD role will depend on the candidate’s experience, skill set, and ability to assimilate into our culture. Successful applicants should be qualified at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, possess excellent clinical skills, a strong interest in teaching, and identify an area of excellence and commitment to at least one of the academic pillars. Strong administrative, quality improvement, and leadership skills plus the ability to work collaboratively is required. Those with a visionary and democratic leadership style will be sought. Board certification in SCC and general surgery is required.
