Description
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a board eligible/certified physician to join the Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology as an Academic Hospitalist, with 10% protected effort as the Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) Medical Director. This is a unique opportunity to combine frontline obstetric care with medical leadership in one of the state’s premier academic medical centers.
Position Highlights
- Clinical Excellence – Provide care for high- and low-risk patients in the Froedtert & MCW Birth Center, one of Wisconsin’s only Level 4 Obstetrical Units, directly connected to the Level 4 NICU at Children’s Wisconsin.
- OBED Medical Leadership – Dedicate 10% effort to serving as the OBED Medical Director, overseeing operations, ensuring quality and safety, and leading process improvement for high-acuity obstetric patients.
- Teaching & Mentorship – Actively engage with residents, fellows, and medical students in a rich academic environment.
- Collaborative Practice – Join a thriving division of 16 physicians and 7 advanced practice providers, caring for patients across 12 diverse clinical sites affiliated with Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Wisconsin, and Zablocki VA Medical Center.
Clinical Schedule
- Shifts: 12–14 hours in length
- Total: 15 shifts per month
- Coverage: Balanced mix of weeknights, weekends, and holidays
Candidate Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree
- Board Certified/Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Strong clinical skills with interest in both obstetric emergency care and academic medicine
- Commitment to teamwork, education, and continuous improvement
